A tuneful new treatment is being used to help patients with lung conditions such as asthma, bronchitis and emphysema. Research has shown that singing along to your favourite tunes can ease breathlessness and vastly improve quality of life — and now Britain’s top hospitals are using singing lessons to treat patients.
Dr Nicholas Hopkinson, consultant respiratory physician at Brompton Hospital says that singing tones our diaphragm and abdominal muscles and gets us to develop deeper breathing. What a joy to know that we can get fitter with singing !!
